Setting a goal is deciding on the destination I want my ship to sail towards. The way I express my desire greatly influences my destination.
Imagine someone talking about wanting to get rid of a bad habit. The audience will inevitably imagine the speaker with the bad habit, hence reinforcing and giving more energy to that habit. This applies in a reality where we understand that “energy flows where attention goes”.
Imagine somebody asking a smoker, “Why do you smoke?” or “Why don’t you quit?”. The smoker will do their earnest to explain why they like smoking or why they wouldn’t quit, hence giving the habit more energy, and reasons to persists.
How about asking, “What do you think would happen if you quit smoking?” or “What could you do instead of smoking?”. Now I am diverting the other person’s attention to a desirable outcome or destination, hence assisting them in creating a possibility. A possibility of doing something else, and imaging the reasons and the results of acting differently. All I did differently is I assisted the other person in focusing their attention and energies on a better goal. They did all the work of imaging how would they feel like without smoking, they put it into words their own way.
I can show you how to effectively set goals, which are so strong they create a vacuum, waiting to be filled with you desires. Goals, which will push you from the past and pull you in the future.
If the above sounds interesting please contact me, to discuss how I can deliver a goal setting workshop to assist you in steering your ship to a destination you desire.
